The Nahuel Huapi National Park was the first to be created in our country when Perito Moreno decided to give a large number of hectares to the national state. It has an unparalleled beauty between lakes, hills, valleys, rivers, streams and ancient forests, which provide the visitor with a state of permanent surprise and enthusiasm.
The main city is San Carlos de Bariloche, with more than 160,000 inhabitants. Very close to it, begins one of the most extraordinary routes that can be done on foot, in Trekking mode, in our territory. Although there are numerous alternatives within the national park, the one we propose offers variety in difficulty and certain accessibility for a possible case of evacuation and resupply.
What we present here is the planned route for the journey, but the exact route, the duration of each stage of the march and the choice of alternative itineraries are subject to different factors such as weather conditions and group evaluation by the guides. It is suggested to spend the night before in the city of San Carlos de Bariloche.
Day 1: Meeting in San Carlos de Bariloche, downtown area. Presentation of guides and working group; preparations and assembly of backpacks. We travel by private vehicle to the northern head of Lake Mascardi. Initial 2-hour walk to a beautiful beach, called Leones. Then we continue for another hour and a half to Laguna Llum, the place of our first camp. Dinner and overnight.
Walking time: 4 hours
Day 2: On this day we will continue to ascend, after skirting the Llum lagoon, to the first great viewpoint of Tronador, the homonymous branch of Mascardi Lake and Heart Island. Then we will descend a steep slope to enter the forest; Finally we border Lake Mascardi along the aforementioned arm until we find another beautiful beach, La Volteada. New camp.
Hiking time: 7 hours
Day 3: We continue bordering Lake Mascardi, Tronador arm, until the end, crossing on foot two important streams, such as Casalata and Claro; Before crossing the latter, we will visit some pools formed by the stream; Finally we will cross the suspension bridge over the greenish Rio Manso Superior, which brings its waters from Mount Tronador. On the other side is our camp, in Tres Alamos, Campamento los Césares. Overnight.
Walking time: 5 hours
Day 4: Day of resupply and important ascent along a path that borders the Claro and Azul streams and leads to the Blue Lagoon (Callvu); The last part is next to waterfalls and climbing rocks, with great views. We camped next to the lagoon, framed by large walls of the Bonete and Punta Negra hills. Time to enjoy the lagoon.
Walking time: 7 hours
Day 5: Long day. We ascend to the edge of the lagoon until we see Cretton Lagoon. Then you reach Laguna Jujuy, ascend to the edge of Cerro Capitan (new great view of Tronador) and begin to descend to Laguna Ilon, passing through a large Mallin (swamp with lagoons) called De Ricardo. Access to the lagoon and new camp.
Walking time: 9 hours
Day 6: Very early: we continue towards Paso de las Nubes, we pass by Mirada del Doctor (wonderful views of Lake Frey and the Tristeza arm of Lake Nahuel Huapi) and we ascend to a new great viewpoint of Mount Tronador, next to the Mar de hill. Stones. We continue along the path towards Paso de las Nubes in a long section with ascents and descents, perhaps sections with patches of snow, and passing by the last great viewpoint of Tronador, at the Cerro Constitución pass; Finally you access the Agostino Rocca Refuge, in Paso de las Nubes. Rest and overnight in the shelter, with beds.
Walking time: 12 hours
Day 7: Walk to Pampa Linda. We border the Alerce River, which we cross and also the Castaño Overo, with the fork of the path that goes up to the Otto Meilling del Tronador refuge. We finally arrived in Pampa Linda at approximately 3pm. End of the tour. Transfer to Bariloche (approximately 20 hours). End of our services.
